The 19th Century was the beginning of the United States connecting two oceans within one continent. This expansion West was the beginning of a journey into a frontier that was occupied by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. The early pioneers faced the natural elements, dangerous animals, sickness, seemingly unpassable landscape, and the fierce resistance of the natives.

The early European guns brought West provided initial protection, but the iconic 19th Century American firearms provided a moderate leveling of the West. For a few dollars, anyone could protect themselves with lethal effort.
